Monthly favourites – September

I’ve been using and buying lots and lots of products for skincare as well as make-up recently. I change my products quite regularly and each month I have some that I use all the time. In September there were a few items that I was putting on my face or body more often than other.

I love eyeshadow palettes for it’s easiness to use and great variety of make-up that you can create. Urban Decay Naked 2 is a nude colours palette and I love it because this is my best and quick option in the morning. It’s a great option when I’m in a rush and I have no time to think what and how to put on my eyes. The colours are in the same nude-bronze tones and they complement each other, no matter how you want to apply it. I love that this palette has a really good, great quality, full size brush. I’m not a fan of these small brushes/applicators that are usually added to eyeshadows and I never use it. But this one is a great, full size tool and I use it for that palette as well as others. The shadows itself are quite sparkly (which I actually like) with a few matte ones in between. My favourite combination for a day to day, effortless look is Tease on the whole eyelid with some Snakebite or Busted in the outer corners or socket of my eye. But there is many, many options. The packaging is quite heavy (it’s metal) which does not make it easy for travelling, but on the other hand a mirror is really good size and very handy when going away.

This Estee Lauder mascara wasn’t my love at first sight. But we came to a really good terms now, and I can definitely recommend it as one of my favourites. I was quite used to a different shape of a brush, but after a few days of regular used I got more skilled and found my way how to get the best out of it. It does give a very nice lash fan, when you apply a few layers. I use this round side of a brush first and then to finish off I use this comb ,which is on one side, just to give a bit more of definition. This comb is also perfect for using on lower eyelashes, very precise. It’s a very good quality mascara that doesn’t smudge and stays on lashes all day. I’ve been using it nearly every day for about 2 months and it didn’t dry at all, which is very impressive. I think I need a new one though, as there isn’t much left now.

Caudalie Polyphenol C15 face fluid deserves separate review at some point. It’s my new discovery and I’m very content with it. Love the texture and the way it spreads on my skin. I have a fluid (they also make a cream) and I have to say it’s quite creamy and not too watery. I tried a cream version in the shop but it was a bit too rich for me. This one is perfect. It’s a great choice when you want a bit more from your skincare than just a moisture. It’s full of antioxidants from grapes and vitamin C derivative which has got anti-ageing and brightening properties. Perfect for giving my skin a bit of radiance as well as great moisture. Because it’s in a tube and not a jar it actually has a great chance to work. Vit C in particular needs to be kept out of the sun and air, otherwise it deactivates very quickly. Extra points from me for a lovely, subtle smell of grape leaves. Perfect.

Ever since I was a teenage I always knew, that a good clay mask is a rescue remedy for an oily skin. This one from Superfacialist by Una Brennan is one of my favourite. It de-clogs the pores and refreshes skin surface. It contains salicylic acid which is great exfoliating ingredient, but also works wonders for any blemishes. It’s my quick fix for any surprises on my face. I put it on my t-zone, jaw line and my nose, but I avoid my cheeks, as it is quite strong for its exfoliating properties. I remove it with a muslin cloth as it’s much easier and quicker to do it that way. I think it’s one of those products that everyone should have. Just great.

This is my latest pick which I grabbed on a quick shopping from The Body Shop. It’s a body milk with a beautiful, sweet, coconut smell, that is in a spray bottle. It makes it very quick and easy to apply. I spray it straight on my body and spread it all over with my hand. It is quite a watery formula, so it’s not going to fulfil a need of dry skin. But what I like about it, is that it absorbs quickly and I can put my clothes on pretty much straight away. For m it’s not a product for everyday use, as it’s not nourishing enough, but as a quick choice when in a rush it’s perfect. What are your favourite products of the month?
