In search of the best mascara vol.2

If you’ve missed a first part of my “In search of the best mascara vol.1” it’s HERE. I have reviewed Estee Lauder, Smashbox and Lanccome Hypnose Drama there.

Le Volum de Chanel is next on.

This is another one that gets very close to my ideal mascara, though I didn’t like it to start with. You obviously have to get used to this brush, which is quite chunky, but has short bristles at the same time. When I used it first time it was clumping and my lashes were stuck together. I had to work out my way of using it and I love it now. I put it in the category of no fuss, quick to use and great effect mascara. It gives really fantastic volume and a bit of length as well. The main tip is to get rid of too much product from the brush, otherwise it will clump and stick the lashes together. It builds up nicely and quickly for a fantastic, evening, sexy look with nicely separated lashes. Really great (as long as you don’t put too much!).

Lancome Hypnose Star

Another one from the Lancome Hypnose family. This mascara has a brush that is flattened a bit on two sides. It helps to put on  a lot of product quickly and then use the other sides to brush it through the lashes. I really like this mascara, although it doesn’t give such a great, dramatic look for me like Hypnose Drama. The brush is definitely something you need to get used to and get your own way to put a product with it. Like all Lancome mascaras, you can build up for a lovely, evening look. When Hypnose Star first came out, that was my favourite mascara to give as a gift for any of my friends that like experimenting and trying new products. I always choose classic Hypnose to give as a gift for my Mum or anyone who is more traditional about make-up. I’m a big fan of all Lancome Hypnose range and just purchased a new Volume-a-Porter mascara. Review coming soon.

Clinique Lash Power Mascara

This mascara is very different from the range above. It’s a mascara that uses so called “tube” technology, so instead of painting a product on your lashes it forms a tube on each lash. By doing that it prevents mascara from falling under your eyes at the end of the day. It doesn’t smudge, it’s safe for sensitive eyes and it’s safe for contact lens wearers (me!) even though it’s claimed to be waterproof.  Brush is very small, which allows for a very precise application. It can be removed with warm water, but I find it messy that way, so I still prefer using eye makeup remover. I have done review on it HERE as I take it with me for holidays. It is a bit of a job to get it off. Lovely one indeed.
