Claris Blue orchid face oil – review

I am a beginner if it comes to face oils. Having oily/combination skin majority of my life I always thought that I should stay away from any oils as far as I can. Oh was I wrong. Oils can be successfully used on oily/combination/acne prone skin, if used reasonably.

Over years my skin has changed and although I still tend to be combination more than anything else I also get very dehydrated. And that’s what this product is best for. I love everything about it. Smells gorgeous, absorbs fairly quick (as for oil) and leaves my skin beautifully refreshed. Let’s start from the beginning.

Ingredients: It’s a 100% plant oil that is a combination of extracts of Rosewood, Patchouli, Blue Orchid with de-hydrating, moisturising and refreshing properties. Hazelnut oil added to it is meant to be working to smooth our wrinkles. Very nice combination indeed.

When to use: for me any face oil is an evening product or a pamper day product. I would not used it in the morning before my make-up as it might be too greasy (any oil would be for me). It’s a perfect product to use at night and I either use it on it’s own or sometimes I put a serum first, depending how I feel. It’s my obvious choice if I use any exfoliator (like acids) because it soothes my skin immediately and deals with small irritations or temporary redness. If I have a pamper day and use a clay mask or any other deeply purifying mask I would use it then as well. I don’t use it in the morning unless I stay at home and put no make-up at all.

Packaging: It’s a 30ml bottle which is just about the amount that one needs. Lasts forever, as you only need a few drops per application. The bottle is very nice with a very handy applicator that makes it easy to measure as much (or as little) of a product as you need. I love this bright yellow colour, looks great on the shelf. The only thing I could question is that the bottle is see-through, so I’m not sure if it’s going to stay very stable on the sunlight. Just in case I keep it in a more shady area of my bathroom.

How to use it: I literally put a few drops on my hand palms, work it for a few seconds and press it on to my face, neck and décolleté. This is obviously perfectly designed product for massaging, but I rarely have time for that. Whatever is left I spread on my hands and then breathe-in deeply to enjoy this absolutely amazing smell. Job done!

Price and where to find: It’s around £30 depending where you look and it’s available anywhere that stocks Clarins (feelunique, boots, john lewis and lots more)

Overall: Fantastic product, I can’t imagine not having it in my routine. I might buy a different brand when I run out as I’m tempted to test some new products but this is definitely something that I know I will re-purchase at some point anyway. Absolutely worth spending money on.

I used to feel the same about face oils but now I use them all the time, I have three on rotation & could never give them up now. This was actually one of the ones I was looking at, it looks great & you’ve done a great review.
